- A trip to Hermanus is not complete without going on a whale watching cruise. Reputable operators are based at the new harbour and there are several departure times a day. Take your camera with as you will see southern rights and maybe humpbacks and brydes whales.
- Another incredible creature inhabiting these waters is the great
white shark. In Gansbaai, about 40 km from Hermanus, are operators specializing in shark cage diving and this promises to be an adrenalin-filled activity.
- For those preferring the earth beneath their feet, hiking in
Fernkloof Nature Reserve is an
excellent option. With a 60 km network of well-maintained trails, a day at
Fernkloof is a must. Just keep an eye out for the baboons!
- Staying on land another popular
activity is cycling in and around
Hermanus. If you don't have your own don't worry - bikes can be rented from Hermanus Cycles.
- An incredible way to end a perfect
day in Hermanus is a spot of sailing
on the Klein River Lagoon. The
Hermanus Yacht Club has facilities for the launching and expert advice should you need any.
