Whale Ribbon Baby Whale Jumping Whale in New Harbour

As children, our parents always warned us to not shove our mouths full of food because it’s bad manners. But sometimes a person forgoes such comments, saying: “There is always an exception to the rule.” By the 14th Kalfiefees we have definitely broken this rule by shoving two and a half days’ worth of festivities into our “mouths”.

Come and enjoy a delicious three-course meal, the way that the Warwick Chef School can only make, during our opening night, with entertainment from top class Sarah Theron and the Gugulethu Tenors. And this is only the beginning of the quality music for the rest of the weekend. NiaNell performs for the first time at the Kalfiefees and Bodom teams up with his best friend Stef Bos in a bush kitchen! Another old acquaintance, Emile Minnie, performs at this year’s Women’s Day Function as well as in a solo show at the Sprokkelster Theatre in Onrus River. Our Sunday afternoon classical music concert includes famous guitarist James Grace in Concert, which is a great way to end off this amazing event.

As always, we never forget some “sweet treats” for the children to enjoy. Three children’s productions will be performed at the Sprokkelster Theatre while Dramas such as TailorFor Loss of Memory and Misfit Boys will also be staged in theatre.

For all our long time and loyal Kalfiefeesondersteuners we present a few seasoned, brilliant theatre gurus to stir the pot even further. Sandra Prinsloo and Marius Wevers in Forever and Ever, Carl Trichardt and Petru Wessels in Man/Woman, Elize Cawood and Wilson Dunster in Die-hoe-se-wat-se-wie-nou-weer? and Tobie Cronje in the one-man show Ballad of a Banggat. There are also many other celebrities like Chris Vorster Affairs for Fools, the three Festival Cats Susanne Beyers, Marijke Daneel and Joanie Combrink, because what is a festival without Ditzy Blondes!

The two major productions that will definitely draw a lot of attention at this year’s Kalfiefees is The Bowls Player with actors such as June von Merch, Brendon Daniels, Dann-Jacques Mouton and Nicol Holm and Rondomskrik with Sharleen Surtie Richards, Lee-Ann van Rooi, Crystal-Donna Roberts and Richard September. Book your tickets to these shows early or else you might regret it later. Also, while the women are enjoying their Women’s Day Celebration at the Harbour Rock Restaurant, men (and women) are spoiled enough to be able to listen to Dr Piet Croucamp at the Whale Coast Hotel’s conference centre.

For festival goers that enjoy eating and drinking remember the large and warm Festival Tent, which offers a large variety of delicious food and drink for you to enjoy. Come and visit us from early morning until late at night, right next to the Wetsaal with a delicious variety on the menu. Come and have your fill in heart and soul and mouth!
